My journey to aromatherapy certification began in December 2013 from a desire to tread my own path and to understand my purpose in this life.
I was about to enroll with Aromahead Institute unaware that tragedy was just around the corner.
It was September 2014 when my Mum was struck by a car while crossing the road. Mum was in so much pain.
One day I walked into Mum’s room to check on her and she immediately tried to disguise the obvious pain she was in.
I didn’t know how to help her and was overcome by fear, sadness, and a feeling of complete helplessness.
Mum and me
At the same time, I tried to keep the tears from falling. I went back to my room and began to cry. This is my Mum and I didn’t know how to help her.
I was determined not to throw my hands up in despair.
What can I do?
Calm down, think!
I began to research the internet for nerve sensitivity and found a study about an essential oil that may help with sensitivity from nerve pain.
What did we have to lose?
Mum who is a retired registered nurse and the worst patient ever, allowed me to try this natural alternative.
I began a regimen of massaging my Mum’s legs every single day for 3 months with the essential oil, mixed in coconut oil that she had in her kitchen.
Surprise! It worked and my happiness could not be contained. The words my Mum shared with me for her gratitude were priceless and I will never forget the way it made me feel. We hugged and we cried.
Did I mention that Mum is diabetic?
Side note: The essential oil was Geranium (Pelargonium x asperum) and Mum still uses it to this day!
My Journey has just begun …
A year had passed since my Mum’s accident, so I continued on my quest to find myself and enrolled at Aromahead Institute in October 2015.
My training began in January 2016 after attending a free webinar on How to Become a Certified Aromatherapist.
I knew, without a doubt, that I had found my definite purpose and went on to earn my Aromatherapy Certification in January 2017!
My continued training has brought me to this place where I intend to help demystify and lessen the abundance of misleading information that surrounds the world of aromatherapy.
So you see, from personal heartbreak, soaked in emotion & oceans of love, the woman who gave me life, helped give life to my dream, and Mudita Aromatics was born!
In case you were wondering, Mudita is ancient Sanskrit for “Unselfish Joy”.
Helping people feel better gives me joy. Perhaps, you too can do something for a loved one that is absolutely priceless.
